Kinja'd!!!

So have an A110 and keep scrollin'.

So after our first offer on the house was rejected and we accepted the seller's counteroffer, it appears as if the seller has now rescinded their "verbal" offer and wants us to pay the asking price plus the closing costs she had agreed to pay. I'm super pissed and my GF is crushed. We signed our half of the paperwork earlier today (after previously submitting an offer with a good-will check) and I already scheduled the home inspection. Fucking cunt of a seller.

There's other fish in the sea. It sucks, but maybe you'll find something better.

That sucks. Sorry bro. When it comes to real estate, there really is no such thing as a verbal agreement - its in writing or it doesn't exist, as far as the law is concerned, BUT that doesn't mean that the seller is any less of a twat for not living up to their word. Be MERCILESS when it comes to the inspection and enforcing the seller's covenants under the purchase contract. Don't cut them an inch of slack.

That sucks but stick to your guns. The seller might realize that they've made a mistake if they think they will lose the sale. That's what happened to me, but I know it's a different market now. Good luck!

Buy house next door .... and turn it into the biggest dumb. Lower property values and make sure they never get more money than what you offered.

Haha I wish - it's a good deal at the asking price but the seller is not going to get what she's looking for - it's an 80 year old house with one bathroom and 2' wide closets. Good luck to the old hag.

We'll most likely get the deposit back and tell the seller to FOAD.

Nope. If she's willing to hit the brakes here there's no telling what'll happen if the inspection requires a fix-list. I'm guessing $10,000.

No it's done. We'll probably get our deposit back and look elsewhere. Sucks too - it was a nice place.

Oh shit, I misread that. Sorry man. If it helps at all, when my wife were in the market for our first house a couple years ago, we had a similar situation with the first house we put an offer on. We thought the house was perfect for us, but then the seller torpedoed the deal and we were incredibly let down when we had to walk away. In the end though, we wound up with a house that was not only better in almost every way, but was also cheaper. Hang in there. You guys will find a place that is right for you.

The fuckers were counting on you guys liking the house so much that you would fold and pay up. Tell em to piss off and look elsewhere is what I would do too.

Good luck finding your dream home.
